How can I check my email using Outlook?
Solution
These instructions are written from Outlook 2003, but older version have a similar interface.
Open Outlook
Choose "Tools" from the top menu
Choose "E-mail Account..." from the pull down menu
Select the "Add a new e-mail account" option, then click the "Next" button
Choose the "POP3" option, then click the "Next" button
Enter your name in the "Your Name" box and your email account in the "E-mail Address" box
Enter your POP3 server (usually mail.yourdomain.com) in the "Incoming mail server (POP3)" box - this is displayed in the "Mail Info" screen of your H-Sphere Control Panel
Enter your SMTP server in the "Outgoing mail server (SMTP)" box - this can be tricky as more and more ISP's are blocking the default port to prevent SPAM, but you can start with mail.yourdomain.com (if this does not work, you may need to use your ISP's SMTP server in this area)
Enter your entire email address in the "User Name" box and your password in the "Password" box
Check the "Remember password" box
Click the "More Settings" button
Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab
Check on the "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" box and select the "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" option
Click on the "Advanced" tab (for accounts created after January 1, 2006)
Change the standard port 25 to
2525
in the "Outgoing server "SMTP" box (for accounts created after January 1, 2006)
Click the "OK" button
If you choose, you can click "Test Account Settings" button to test the mail account to ensure that you can send and receive
Click the "Next" button
Click the "Finish" button
